I first found out about Eating for Energy as a result of some research I was doing to find ways to improve my health. I was overweight, lacked energy, and suffered from inflammation in my back and core and I wanted to do something about it.

In Eating for Energy, Yuri makes the case, with much detail and scientific backing, for eating more fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and oils, and grains and legumes in your diet. He does it in a very persuasive way that makes you want to make positive changes! After reading this book, I know more about how my body operates on a cellular level and the impact that my diet has on the functioning of my blood and internal organs. He also offers a lot of practical tips on maintaining a proper mindset when making significant changes to your lifestyle.

Yuri is also very good and understanding the human psychology of lifestyle transformation. He doesn’t frustrate the reader by preaching perfection. Rather, he encourages progress in whatever degree you are comfortable with giving. Yuri has his own version of the food pyramid that even allows for 20% of your diet to be leisure foods. In other words, you can still enjoy some of the “bad” foods that you love and crave WITHOUT guilt or condemnation!

Yuri describes a lot of topics in detail including food allergies, grocery lists, organic vs non-organic foods, vegetarian sources of protein and calcium, finding a proper pH balance and much more.

There is also a comprehensive section filled with delicious recipes. This is a 359 page book and over 100 pages are dedicated to easy to make recipes for every category – smoothies, desserts, salads, soups, main courses, etc. It is very well done.

As you can tell, I am enthusiastic about this book! After implementing Eating for Energy, my inflammation was gone within a week, I had more energy with no caffeine than i ever did when I drank 3-4 cups of coffee a day, and I lost 13 pounds of fat in a month!
